How To Write a Winning Email

In marketing its always important that we go back to basics. Sometimes its the little things in the communication between you and your prospect that closes the deal. These 'little things' show your professionalism - which btw is a main factor when closing a deal.

Today Salesdog.com had a great article on the "Five Secrets of Winning Emails" written by Mike Brooks.

In short here they are:

1- Use the prospect's first name in the subject line

2- Customize the first few lines of your email as much as possible.

3- Keep your email short and easy to read!

4- Ask for a return response - whether they are interested or not.

5- Promise to follow up by phone if they don't respond.

Everyday I receive emails from individuals who are either looking for a job, a JV, outsourcing... Its always interesting to see the way people write emails. Even more then that - The way the emails are written gives me an indication of what type of person I am dealing with and who I should respond to... is he a professional? Serious? Usually according to the response as well its pretty much easy to define the person behind the email.

Sometimes one good email can close the deal!
