What Should You Do With Your Money?
In the past when the markets have taken a turn for the worst and stocks plummeted, investors often took part of their portfolio and invested in the property market where they felt that their money would be safer until the markets recovered. With property prices crashing in the U.S. and the U.K. what should one do with his money ? Many people have told me that they feel that the safest bet is to keep it under their mattress! In my opinion, there is a solution..... To get a mortgage in Israel you need to put down 30% - 40% of the value of the property, the banks will usually only lend up to 60-70% of the value of the property. This is how the banks in Israel have protected themselves against the disaster that we see going on in the U.S.and the U.K. where homeowners were able to get close to 100% mortgage. For this reason, I believe that the property market in Israel will always be strong. I believe that there will be a huge investment in property in Israel in the coming months by foreign investors - Jews around the world. This last week I went into partnership with a Realtor, as I believe that property in Israel will be in very high demand in the coming months. Although prices may come down slightly on luxury residential properties, there is still demand in the market in general and not enough construction. My partner has been involved (most recently) with the Waldorf-Astoria development (the old Palace Hotel) on Rechov King David in Jerusalem as well as many other prestigious developments.
