What Kind of Sales Person Are You? Part 1



Are successful sales people just lucky people who were born with that unique talent to close sales? Can anyone be successful in sales?

If you are a business owner whether you like it or not you are involved in sales, it may not look like it...but it's sales alright.

Most people associate sales with someone sitting and making phone calls. Not only.

The moment you become a business owner you are getting involved in the sales business. You are placing your self in a position where in exchange for your products or service you will receive money.

After meeting some sales people this week as I was looking to buy a new laptop I thought about some different aspects as to what makes someone a good sales man.

Here are a few things I wrote down while I was waiting for the sales man:

1) How are you dressed? When people will meet you they will automatically judge you based on your appearance. Sorry but this is human nature.

2) Do you show up and throw up? This means that when its time for you to "throw your sales pitch" - instead you give your whole life story and end up "throwing up" and losing the sale,client or customer.

3) Are you grilling your customers? Did you give your sales pitch and then end up trying to throw in more products into the deal and your customer or client just want to go home or get off the phone.

4) Did you brush your teeth? I was actually reading somewhere that if you are talking with a client or customer and your breath stinks - your client or customer will remember that for the next time and they will think twice about doing business with you. You may have a brilliant product or service for them but this little thing can change minds.

5) Are you an expert on your product or service? Do you know everything there is to know about it? This can have a major effect when it comes to the actual purchasing of your services or product. People want to know that you know what exactly is going on.
