Is Twitter a Waste of Time For Marketers? Yes It Is and I'll Tell You Why
If your just looking for a good time and to chat with other people or if you are looking to follow some famous person that you really admire then Twitter is the right place for that. But if you are marketer or just getting started in marketing and you need to bring in results....Twitter is really not the right place for you.. It's important for me to write this article because many times people will ask me "Well how come you don't use Twitter for marketing?" - and many times clients will say something like "Yeh and I also want to be all over Twitter" Lets get one thing clear: there is no such thing as a Marketing Strategy for Twitter. It's like saying that you have a marketing strategy for internet chat rooms. Let me explain: I once heard business guru Brian Tracy mention that there are two types of people when it comes to building a business: There are those who focus on activities and there are those who focus on results. Those who focus on activities are usually taking action on things that are fun and easy to do. Those who focus on results are focusing on proven methods that actually bring in results. Twitter is nothing more then a cute and fun activity that will simply kill your time. Online Marketing is a hard business and I've found over the course of my time in this industry that many marketers will do what is fun and easy rather than what is hard and necessary. Focus on real methods that will bring in real results for your clients. Remember: At the end of the day it's your client who is the one that's paying your bills:) To your success!
