My Clients Competitor Generates Leads For Me on Twitter
I'm not a big fan of Twitter and I think for the most part its a complete waste of time. Sometimes Twitter can be useful especially if its an event or something thats happening in real time and you want to take part in the action. Recently a new client was looking to connect with distribution companies in a market that almost didn't exist (btw that's what I do - I connect companies with distributors:). I couldn't find anything and no one to connect with. Usually in a case like this I'll start digging through my clients competitors and follow their moves on the web. Thanks to Twitter I found exactly what I was looking for. One competitor was attending an exhibition and one of their employees who was at the exhibition was obsessively posting on Twitter updating every person he met at their booth. "It was great meeting @..... and looking forward to following up with you next week" I immediately did a check up on every person that was tagged in his updates and found all of the relevant people that I needed to connect with. Here is what you need to do next time your client needs leads and you're stuck: 1- Research a popular exhibition that will be taking place. Usually in the exhibition website they will share the exhibition twitter account. 2- Go on Twitter and see who is hashtagging the Exhibition in their updates. Follow those people and check them up on LinkedIn. 3- Start generating your leads!
