Thoughts on Driving Traffic To a WebsiteWhen it comes to the internet we need to face the hard facts of selling and marketing online..... its very hard. I see many companies offering crash courses on how to build a web based business, but the reality is that people join these programs and they do get many great ideas on how to build a web based business, but when it comes to the actual marketing, when it comes to getting traffic - here is where they get stuck and overwhelmed. When you have no traffic you have no business. When you start getting traffic it is then easier to monetize your website better according to the footprints of your traffic and in addition it helps to focus and re-focus on achieving your goals. Last week someone asked me: " Isn't it important to first focus on personal branding? My response to this question is as follows: Yes, personal branding is important but if the home based business owner who is usually on a low budget as it is will spend so much time and money on trying to personal brand at the beginning - he will end up with no strength for the marketing. Once you have the traffic coming in and you have established some credibility then its a good time to hire someone for your personal branding. Imagine a guy coming to Hollywood. He gets a job as an actor and even though he is not making any money yet, what does he go and do? He immediately hires a body guard,a PR firm etc.....maybe all of those fans will just go crazy over this unknown person.... But no one knows of him yet! This is why once actors start getting some publicity do they hire someone to help them with their "personal branding" and what not. Focus on getting traffic traffic and more traffic and the good stuff will come later on.
