What Is The Number One Question? Thoughts From The Jerusalem Business Forum
I wanted to share some thoughts from last nights Jerusalem business forum event. The topic of the evening was about "Making money from you laptop." In general I got the feeling that most people in the room felt that it is actually possible to create an online business. Yet the number one question that I heard again and again was: How do I get started With this social media thing? With so many websites - one can get totally lost. Here is my advice: You need to be on three networks: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Now as I said last night - you need to remember that you want focus on three things: 1) Build a network 2) Share your information 3) Create value for your network How do you share your information? Here is how: When I create a new page here at iyazam.com. I then take the link to that page and post it first on Facebook - Where it says on your profile page "Share a link". This way it will show up in the news feed of everyone in my network. I then post the same link on twitter, How? Like this: I write the title of the article, lets say: "How to market a website using Ning:" After that line I post the link taking my visitors straight to the article. So it will look like this in one box on twitter: How to market a website using Ning: http://www.iyazam.com/how-to.html etc...... Now if your link is to big - you can make it smaller with this cool tool:
Tinyurl.com
Then I do the same thing on with my status on LinkedIn - like I did on Twitter. In LinkedIn your network will see it as well on their news feed page. Remember: Your goal is to share your information with your network, create value and at the same time to redirect them to your website. In order for this to be effective - you must direct them to the exact page! and not to your homepage. Stick to this method of work on daily basis and you will find that with time the business will start coming in.
