Consistent Promotion in Marketing - Vs - Sounding Desperate

In a recent article that was published here I discussed Why Small Business Owners Struggle With Running Marketing Campaignsis because they are not consistent promoters. Meaning they will do 'one round' of marketing and hope for the best.

When I published that article someone had asked me whether consistent promotion makes you sound desperate in your marketing campaign.

When your marketing campaign sounds desperate then people prefer not to do business with you. Why? Because if you are sounding 'desperate' then you are giving the impression that your business is not going so well and that you could really use some business right about now.

Now your business may be going well....that doesn't matter. Always put yourself in the shoes of your audience.

In order to keep your consistent promotion running effectivly - here is what I always recommend: take the two step marketing strategy approach.

The one step marketing strategy is:

"Hire Me because I'm a really good web designer!"

This type of marketing is really not effective. Why? Because you are throwing yourself on me and I dont know who you are or anything about you and now you are asking me to hire you.

The two step marketing strategy goes like this:

"10 Steps to Creating a High Quality Website."

With this strategy you are pre-selling your self. Once you take your self out of the process and you re-direct you prospects to a third party of information - you are allowing your prospects to warm up to you.

The main goal in a two step marketing strategy is to promote information. Consistent promotion of information allows you to pre-sell yourself, your services and your products without having to sound desperate.

The most effective tool that you should use in the two step strategy is of course: Testimonials.
