Social Traffic Vs. Search Traffic

With all of the hype surrounding social media for marketing it's very important to know that most of your high value traffic will come from the search engines.

I clearly see this through the various affiliate programs running on this site. It took me a while to learnthat good optimized pre-selling content will attract targeted visitors who are looking or already in the purchasing moodunlike social media that it attracts just another visitor. (Having said that LinkedIn is a valuable resource for quality traffic...)

Now I'm not saying that social media marketing is total waste of time.

Two things:

1) Social media can act as a great public relations tool

2) If you will learn to master the art of intertwining social media marketing with SEO - this is where you will see the extreme value in social media marketing.
