The number one keyword that visitors from Google find this site iyazam.com is: "Hot Businesses in 2009". Today people are looking for new ideas, businesses and growing trends in order to be ahead of the ball in 2009. Especially with the way the economy is - the wise want to make sure they are in the right industry. So whats going to be with marketing in 2009? What should you be focusing on? Social Media Marketing is pretty much here to stay. Here is what I recommend you focus on in 2009: 1) LinkedIn.com - Focus on LinkedIn this year. Connecting with other professionals is a whole different ball game then 'playing around' on Facebook. If you show off your expertise in a professional community - the response by nature will be much better then in a non professional community. I like to deal with serious people and I personally prefer that my marketing messages fall on professional ears. This year I closed a few sales via LinkedIn and it was there that I learned the power that when you contribute to a professional community - its worth it in the long run. This refers to the little things that sometimes we don't pay attention to when we are marketing via social media. When ever you sign up with a site - always make sure that you fill out the "About me" section and upload a picture. Share some information about yourself. Let the people know who YOU are and not just about your business. Another issue is email signatures. Make sure that you have a proper email signature with a link to your website, blog or LinkedIn profile. Create profiles on Lookuppage.com and Naymz.com. The more that your information is out there - the better. 3) Market Your Information: Blogs, social networks, forums, article directories etc... are all geared for the small business owner for one thing: Marketing your information. Now that there are so many tools on the web and so many new things since last year - focus on creating your presence...believe it or not the results will appear very quickly in the search engines. 4) Internet Forums: There are many internet forums on the web. I would like to recommend that you focus on one forum and become the ultimate expert in that forum - If you ask me which forum - get involved with Startupnation.com This is my profile on Startupnation:
5) What about Twitter? Twitter can be good for building a community around your business. Although with twitter its important that you first focus on building a network of followers. Read this article: How To Get More Twitter Followers To be continued (I was up till very late last night!)
