Salesy Content - Vs - Pre-Selling Content

As more and more people are getting on the web and creating websites your potential customers have many more websites to choose from.

Once upon a time a "selected few" controlled the web. These individuals who dominated various niches were able to promote and generate loads of money from promoting products and services to those niches which out much effort. It was all a matter of throwing up content on a long sales page.

Today things have changed: The amount of new websites is skyrocketing. Everyone has access to the information today and anyone can become a guru...if they know how to correctly promote that information.

Which this creates a new challenge: writing winning content. At the end of the day - social media, seo, PPC means nothing if your content stinks.

In old school internet marketing it was very easy to get away with writing salesy content. In todays internet marketing world pre-selling content is critical.

Pre-selling/educational based content is what's working today on the web. People are looking for information they can trust. Web traffic today is less interested in the "We cracked the code" or "We know all the secrets" type of content.

I am seeing more and more "gurus" shifiting over to the pre-selling content instead of the cheap "we cracked the code" content. Today, If you ever you hear a "guru" saying something like: "we have managed to crack the code to internet marketing" "We will reveal to you the secrets"..run my friend, run as far as you can. Remember: There are no secrets - just stuff you dont know yet.

The Golden Rule: The way to your customers heart is through good content.
