A press release is basically a news story written in the third person that seeks to demonstrate to the editor, reporter, or even blogger the newsworthiness of your product or service. It is important to understand the difference between writing an article and writing a press release. In an article, you are sharing content information; here you are sharing the key points about your business.

A press release should be very short – no more than a few paragraphs sharing the key points of your product or service.

There are a several acceptable formats, but all contain the following:

1. Headline – No gimmicks here!

2. Summary – Elaborate on the title with one sentence.

3. Body – Don’t get too philosophical here. Give the important and relevant information.

4. Contact – How can customers reach you?
