Marketing on Mailing Lists in Israel - Tips
In Israel almost every English speaking community has a Yahoo group or a Google group. Some groups are very small and others have thousands and thousands of members. Over the past few years more and more people are begining to discover the marketing potential within these groups.
Here are a few tips that may help you with your postings:
1) Subject/Title: This is the first thing people see when they open their email. You need to give the readers a real good heck of a reason to open up YOUR email. One of the biggest mistakes I see people doing is they write in the subject area one word, for example: "Event!" ..... Event for who? for what? Why am I supposed to guess what your event is for?
The subject/title must act as a "description" of what your posting is all about.
2) The posting itself: Keep it short. No one wants to read your whole resume or life story. Keep your postings short and sweet. To save time you can redirect the readers to a link where they can read and learn more about what you are offering.
3) If you are posting a link make sure you are posting a clickable link: http://www.iyazam.com and not a random nonclickable link www.iyazam.com
4) Use your name in your signature. So many people don't like to use their personal names when posting. When you do that you are sending a message to the readers saying that you are basically not really sure about the service or product you are offering. It also gives the impression that you are somewhat embarrassed about your business.
5) Split test your postings. If you belong to a few lists then split test your postings (try different titles, copy etc..) and see which posting generates a better response.
6) I have found that adding a testimonial in the email really helps. A testimonial with a real name and last name. Better off to have someone who is known giving the testimonial.
7) If you are promoting a product - don't just promote the product but also promote your information. Focus on the preselling aspects of your business as well.
8) In the posting - make an effort to re-direct readers to your website, because thats where you have a better chance of 'capturing' them.
9) Becareful how you market on mailing lists. Focus more on the giving part then the getting. Give and share information and people will respond (hopefully:)!
10) Make sure readers have a few ways to contact you! Add your email +phone+cel...easy access!
