How I Make Money Because of One Companies Screwed Up Customer Service Department

A Little over two years ago I launched this blog iyazam.com. Before this blog iyazam.com I had another blog. The first blog was hacked but luckily I still had all of the content on a word file, so I was able to launch iyazam.com with thirty ready to go articles. One of the articles was about a certain company and how to use their product/service. Two years ago I didnt think much about it..I just wrote the article with very basic information about the company and I posted it along with the other thirty articles.

In a short period of time this article started to climb in Google and I saw that I was getting some nice traffic because of the specific keywords I used in the article. Days and months went by and one day I get an email from someone asking me about the specific product/service on that page and if I could help him out. I responded by saying that although I use this companies product/service - I couldn't really help him because I don't work for the company. A few days later I got another email and again my response was "Sorry I don't work for them and I can't help you". This was going on for a few months.

God works in very mysterious ways.

In July 2009 I was sitting in a meeting. This was a one on one meeting and during the meeting we went off topic and I was talking about my blog and I had mentioned this specific article and that people were emailing me thinking I work for that company. A person who was sitting near us over heard the conversation and said to me "What a small world I work for that company!" He then mentioned to me "Did you know that we have an affiliate program? If you are already ranking in Google you might as well join our affiliate program - hey you never know... you might make a little money"

That night I joined this companies affiliate program. I fixed up the content on that page and started doing some major link building and promotion. Emails were still coming in asking questions about this companies products/services. One day I had a question so I decided to contact the company...and it was then that I realized - this company has a really screwed up customer service department.

Since I was signed up to this companies affiliate program anyways I figured that I could utilize the daily questions that people were asking me and direct them to my affiliate link. So I added a phone number to the page. From now on I'll be the 'customer service department'. For the sake of honesty I always make sure to tell people that although I don't work for the company I can still answer their questions. When people call I explain to them to the best of my knowledge and then comes the line "Sure now just click on that link and you'll be ok !"

But there's more:

This company did not have any page ranking in Google that was focused on the "How To" aspect of their product/service. They are to much involved in the "Buy from us, Use our product now, we are the best" type of information. This is where my article came in.

I generate a nice monthly revenue - which most of it is passive - because this specific company has a really screw up customer service department and they are doing nothing to fix it. Now thats just fine by me :)

This past year has opened my eyes to whole new niche. People search the web because they have a problem and they need a solution. At the same time you also have a lot of people who are frustrated because they can't get through to anyone and they are desperately searching for a solution. My goal is to focus more on the frustrated market of internet users - specifically frustrated people who want to buy....and no one wants to hear them. Its almost like they're saying: "I'm ready to throw money at anyone if someone will just listen to me!"
