Is MySpace Good For Marketing?

People have been asking me lately how come I don’t promote MySpace.com as a way for marketing.

To be honest I have found it to be more effective to focus on one Social Network for marketing.

There are those who will tell you that MySpace is great for marketing. Others will tell you that it can be effective however at the same time it will attract lots of spamming to your email account from other MySpace users.

Recently I refreshed my account on MySpace and changed the email address to a ‘minor’ email account that I use mainly for mailing lists and signing up to website newsletters. In the few days that I have been active on MySpace I have been receiving some spam. To me this is already a yellow light.

I did post on the MySpace forums – and this drove some nice traffic to my website over the weekend! I just may continue marketing via MySpace and we shall see what happens. Although just by browsing through the forums it seems like everyone there is just promoting an MLM opportunity.

Marketing through MySpace can be excellent for musicians who are looking to promote their music or individuals who are looking to promote their homemade movies. You will find a much thirsty crowd on MySpace for music then you will on any other social network.
