Are You An Infopreneur? Stand and Overdeliver!
The other night I went to a concert of my favorite rock band. Sitting there in the audience I was thinking about how I grew up listening to their music and from a business perspective how they managed to stay in business all of these years! It was at the end of the concert that I learned a valuable lesson in 'customer service', it was there and then that I learned how they have managed to stay in business all of these years (aside from creating amazing music!). When they finished playing it was already 1:00am but their was one problem: the crowd wanted more. At this point the band could of easily walked off stage and gone home to sleep. After about two minutes of talking between themselves they continued playing for another whole half hour! After that half hour I saw a very large crowd of people around the table that was selling their Cd's. For those of us who are in the consulting or information business, many times we find oursleves meeting with a customer or a client in a meeting that was scheduled to be one hour or less. What usually happens? If you're doing a good job you will notice how your customers or clients are 'terribly' thirsty for more. This is a perfect opportunity for you to "complete the sale" and own this customer for ever. Just like the band went into overtime the same should be with your business. A great tactic is to say at the end of the meeting something like: "ok, I got 20 minutes I'll be happy to go into a little overtime" However many times you will hear people who will tell you: "Dont be a sucker and go into overtime! They are only paying you for 45 minutes and not for an hour and 15 minutes....!", You will never hear this type of advice from those who are successful in the industry. My advice to you is: Stand and over deliver!
