Hot Business In 2009 - Part 1
"Who is a wise man? He who can see the future" - our Rabbis teach us that a wise man is capable of putting the pieces of the present together and with that he can predict the future. In our case its a matter of understanding trends and where things are leading to. There are many examples in history where individuals were able to predict the future, like the guy who created "Toys r Us". In 1948 when he saw the soldiers coming back from war, he paid attention to the fact that babies were being born at a exploding rate... He figured 'these babies are going to need toys one day'- he went into action and created a chain store of toys...and the rest is history. So what is going to be hot in 2009? OK its no secret - social media. We will see more and more companies entering social media and trying to create some kind of territory within social media. Companies are finding social media marketing a money saver. However I think creativity will be the key to success and we will see more and more companies integrating marketing campaigns within social media that will relate to what ever market they are targeting; this may be done by a cool Youtube video, or wacky facebook apps. Who knows. To create something that can go viral. That's right - mobile, technology stuff. I personally have no interest in these things but we will see more innovation when it comes to the way we communicate with each other, more apps for mobiles and wacky new tech developments. This is also something that I have been paying attention to: People taking old concepts and products and applying innovation to them. For example: I saw recently a company that launched a website selling a new product line of crazy and funky pajamas for adults...(I need to find that link!) Or playgrounds for adults in regular parks... they have them here in Israel in many places. With so many start-ups and new companies....everyone is trying to come up with the craziest product that stands out. Of course there is more - I will get to it later on!
