How To Write (+get) a Good Recommendation - Tip (Good For LinkedIn)

This can be a very useful tip for writing recommendations on LinkedIn.

Today I was listening to Brian Tracy and he said something very interesting about giving recommendations. Most of the time when when we recommend someone its usually very general.

It usually looks like this:

"Joe is a great marketer! He did a great job and is easy to work with"

This is cute but it's actually not so effective. Because to many people "a great marketer" could mean a lot of things and it will be hard for the viewer to relate to the recommendation.

Brian Tracy says that the most effective recommendation is when the recommendation is focused on specifics.

It should look like this:

"Joe is a great marketer (this is the title - now we know that Joe is a marketer) - Joe's knowledge and expertise in search engine optimization and social media marketing (these are the specifics) have helped our company(results) ......"

So the next time you ask for a recommendation - make sure you ask for a recommendation that is focused on specifics.
