How To Write a Good Follow Up Email - Part 1





I spend many hours during the week sending out emails and following up. The more you do something the better you get at it. I'm able to generate hundreds of leads for my clients by focusing on effective methods for sending out emails and following up.

Today I'd like to share a few tips with you.

When you don't follow up with your prospect and leads - you are simply losing out on business and money. Most business deals and sales are closed in the follow up process. Now, when it comes to following up with a prospect most people don't do it.

Why not?

It's either because they have tried it once or twice and it didn't work or they simply don't know how to approach the prospect in the follow up process.

Today I just want to focus on one aspect in the follow up process - Writing Good Emails.

Remember this rule when writing emails:

Less Is More

Now, obviously the preferred way to follow up with a lead is by phone. People like hear a real human voice. But many people do not feel comfortable on the phone..so they must rely on email to connect with the prospect.

Here are a few tips for sending out emails to leads you receive:

1) The goal is to get your prospect to open the email. For this reason it is critical that the subject of the email must catch the prospects eye.

Over the past few years I have collected the email titles that work for me - here is one - try this:

Message for Hillel Porath (name of prospect...)

Use the personal name of the prospect in the subject line. This usually gets them to open. Also I've found that using the words "Message for" for some reasons gets people to open emails.

In fact if you really want to learn how to write good follow up emails - I highly recommend you subscribe to several marketing guru newsletters. Follow the emails they send you.

2) The body of the email:

Remember that: "Less is More"

The less you write in the email (the more you are saying:) and the more your prospect is likely to read it.

Try using this text:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Hillel (name of prospect)

Just following up in regards to the email you sent.....

Our company .... is one of Israel's leading .........

When would be a good time to call you?

Thanks and looking forward to your response

Name

Company

Phone

Email

Website

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats it.

Brian Tracy says that the goal is to get your prospect on the phone for further discussion or to schedule a meeting. Thats why asking a question like "When would be a good time to call you?" is very important because you asking to play according to your prospects schedule.
